The Peg Stay: A Stylish and Functional Window Addition

Peg stay, casement stay, window stay – this handy piece of hardware can be fitted to assist in function, security, weathering, aesthetics or more.

A casement stay configuration consists of a peg stay (the long bar available in various lengths to fit your window), pins (to secure your stay into position) and optionally a rest (a small, lipped piece of hardware that holds the peg stay into place when the window is closed).

Operating your stay is effortless. Simply lift from the pin and rest, push to open or pull to close. When you have the angle you are happy with, place the pin through the peg stay hole and your window will be fixed into position.

Function

Movement

With the peg stay fitted to the window casement and the pin fixed to the frame, no matter the position which you set your open window, the peg stay will not move and is sturdy, stopping the window from slamming against the frame in high winds.

On a top hung window, usually no handle is present. Opening or closing the window is performed by moving the peg stay instead of a window handle.

Air Flow

A peg stay helps to increase or limit the airflow into a room, as the window can be fixed into multiple positions.

Side hung, modern windows are fitted with a night vent that allows a small amount of airflow. Fit a peg stay to have increased control over your ventilation or temperature.

Tighter seal

Installing a peg stay contributes to a tighter seal between the window and frame. Improving heat retention, energy efficiency and prevents weathering of the internals of your window.

Security

A peg stay increases the security of your property by holding your windows tightly from the inside, potentially deterring intruders.

A lockable peg stay pin bracket (B375VLPB), operated with a supplied key is used to unlock and move the peg stay. This stops your window from being easily manipulated from inside or outside the home.

Other security fittings can be obtrusive or decrease the overall beauty of a classic window. A peg stay enhances whilst protecting.
